No CommentsWhen learning to use the Bible as a tool in managing your business, it is helpful to remember that the Bible is not necessarily a book about happiness, but it is a book about holiness. The Bible will say things you and I do not like to hear, but need to hear. And while it may be the words we don’t like, it is more often the context in which they are said and how they were said that we do not like.

I’ve elected to discuss the use of body language in difficult situations for the simple reason that I frequently struggle in these situations. It’s easy to convey the appropriate body language in my daily conversations and when I’m conveying good news.

As I continue to diligently work to manage my business in a biblical manner, I have become increasingly aware that the most important tool I could (and should) develop is to better communicate. Keep in mind that I’m an engineer by education, and unfortunately many of the jokes about engineers being unable to effectively communicate are mostly true.

I recently heard a radio story about a high school principal who, years ago, made an obvious mistake and subsequently went on the high school intercom to sincerely apologize to all his students. Because of this action, his relationship and respect with his students was elevated to the point that upon his retirement, many students spoke of this single action despite that fact that many were not even born when he made the apology.

Akwadorable slacker. That is a word I would never have dreamed up on my own. It’s a combination of awkward and adorable matched with slacker to describe what the entertainment industry develops about characters in movies who have an amazing penchant for laziness and slothfulness.

There was something about school bells that I did not like. First, the school bell itself. Our school was old and we had a clanging, irritating alarm that sounded the end of each class period. Although I loved school, there were many teachers that the bell could not sound soon enough.
